Maitreya was the heart disciple of Shakyamuni Buddha.
When Shakyamuni left Tushita heaven (he passed his crown to Maitreya)
signifying that Maitreya would be the next Buddha.
Maitreya resides as the current monarch in Tushita Heaven, awaiting the
time when he will descend to usher in the "Age of Enlightenment."
We need not wait until he appears on Earth to follow his practice.
Practing now gives us the assurance that we can be one of his foremost
disciples.
More importantly, practicing

achieving Enlightenment now.
